RAW - Original Jpg - Basic edit - Final Edit

Used Photoshop CS6

I do love the post-processing! And I like to compare the edited photo with the original one. In this case, with the "originals" since there's a considerable difference between the raw and the direct from camera jpg file.

The basic edit could have been different, but I was already thinking on the final look I wanted for this photo, so it didn't really mattered^^"

When I started at photography I used to think that to edit photos was kind of cheating. I have a completely different opinion on it now. I think it's part of the process. It helps the photogapher show his view of things and his artistic side, also helps to give mood. When I learned that some film photographer never let someone else "reveal" their photos in the lab, I understood that this process always existed, but only in a different way.

Its interesting how we can change so much our opinion on something. =)

PS: Sorry, I never know in wich DA category I should submit these comparisons ^^" Well, anyway, maybe this will go to scraps later.

PS 2: I am NOT a pro photographer!!!! Still have a lot to learn!

What do you mean by "Raw" vs. "Original jpg"?  :o

I photograph in "RAW + JPG". So, for each photo I have 2 files. One is the raw file, the other is the jpg file. You can adjust some settings in the camera so the result is different from the raw file. (the camera apply these settings only to the jpg file, not the raw)

Ohh it's always fun to see unedited pictures! :D
I once had a thought that real photographers don't have to edit their picture, they just naturally take those awesome pictures. I now understand that's not the case XD

I used to think something like that too! But now I think that if that was the case, the equipment would be more important than the photographer.
It's funny to think that one of the things that made me accept more to edit photos was to know how they did it with film in the lab! XD

É uma das coisas interessantes da edição, fioca com a cara de quem faz. Por isso muitos fotógrafos não deixam ninguém fazer por eles, assim como fotografos antigos não deixavam ninguém revelar suas fotos XD

I find it a bit funny when I meet people who are strongly against post-processing, especially if they say it's because "if the photo is edited, it won't be natural! I want to the pictures to be like it looked naturally!". The camera does not portray reality. It has no power to capture everything the same way you saw it. The camera is like a human eye - everyone sees the same thing differently. The camera does the same. So with that logic, it's funny if you use that argument. XD But then again...

I feel the same way about post-processing. It's a necessary part, in my opinion. And I really like the way you edit! The colours and contrast in the final edit are gorgeous. (:
Even if you have a lot to learn, you have already learned a lot. Keep it up.

PS. Saying that I find it laughable when people use that argument, doesn't mean that I'm laughing at you right now, I hope it doesn't sound like that. My English is a bit funny and laughable today, sorry. :'D

Thank you!
I couldn't agree more with you!

Around here most of people that I know that doesn't like post-processed photos are the ones that like to say they are awesome because they can get it "right" directly from the camera. In general, they just need something to hold on as if they were better than other people ^^" I know it's not always like this, but I found quite a number of people like that ^^"
